hello and help

merc ce 230 coupe 1991

lying outside for 3yrs new batt strtd 1st time ran it home 7mls next morn turned over not fired no spark from coil to distributer voltage at+side also at - when ign on is this rite

this is hard to answer exactly as the ECU will have a continuous + voltage, it is the triggering device that could be faulty like the crankshaft sensor if there is no spark

thank you guys you are all magic I will try to look at ur advice as the volts on the minus side of coil are constantly on when ign on and yes there is a meta immob thanks n cheers for all help

The MB alarms often isolate the starter rather than the ignition circuits, the other side of the coil will have 12v also when the points are open

hey malcom my coil is solid state type and testing on minus side is constant voltage even when cranking engine what a website what great guys all help im truly grateful for

If the electronic photo cell/ hall effect whatever it uses is not working then the - side of the coil will stay a 12. the electronic points should ground the coil - as the high voltage for the plugs is produced as the circuit opens, this is all tied up with the signal from the crankshaft position sensor.

Can you put up the Vin first 6 number 124---

If it was an alarm fault (many types were fitted) they would normally ground the coil
