A 230ce / 280ce

I am looking at buying a late 1970's or early 1980's 230CE / 280CE. I currently own and drive a E30 BMW.

I know nothing about these cars apart from the fact I love the way they look and there is one for sale in my local garage.

Any information would be really useful, I'm aware the fuel economy is low 20's which is fine, I however have no other idea about running costs.

When you say 70s, are you specifically interested in a W123 or would you consider a W114 280CE? I know of someone who may be selling a W114 280CE. What were you thinking of spending?
