when i turn the ignition on, the abs light on the dash does not register? in the hand book it says that if it stays on then there is fault with the system, what about if it dosn't come on at all? :?

ABS warning bulb failure is an MOT fail issue now, I believe. So if the bulb's failed, been removed or bypassed the car will fail the MOT

test the ABS

The first thing to do is to see if the ABS works, its the perfect weather for it.
Find a road or lane with plenty of wet leaves, you do not have to drive over 20mph, Put your foot on the brake pedal hard and come to a stop, do not pump it, and you should feel a viabration under your foot. That being the case it is only the lamp.
What BOLIDE say's is correct, all MOT stations have a chart for the time taken for the Lamp to go out. the time in milli seconds is for the High presure pump,when correct presure reached,lamp goes out.
Go and do the test and come back to this thread.
