:D today went and got the bits to make up a blink tester,made it up and tried to de code the codes that were set, on no 7 pin blinked 32 times and no 8 pin 27 times, wiped the codes turn the key and idled at 900 rpm put her drive droped to 650 - 700 rpm of i went tried normal stops and emergency stops, stalled twice in total. probably needs a good run to burn of all the s**t, seems to be running 99.9% at the moment, will keep you posted. once again thanks for all your help i was close to giving up and breaking her.

27 on Pin 8 is saying "no TN signal" - this is the engine speed signal from the crankshaft sensor (CKP in the docs).....did you disconnect it at some point?

If not, then the CKP might be on the way out....if it hard-fails the car will not start.

The pin 7 code relates to the A/C system.


After any substantial repair that impacts components involved in the mixture-setting process, its worth doing the reset adaption sequence - the ECU adaption is reset to average from where it will re-adapt to your new components over about 10 "trips".

If you don't do this part, it might well run WORSE until it re-adapts, making you think it is still broken somewhere....

hi, no i did'nt disconnect the crankshaft sensor while testing , have you got any idea how much these are. if mine is going i will get one a.s.a.p . the reset adaption sequence, should i start again.
e.g read codes, clear codes, then reset adaption sequence

The normal is to leave things as they are if running ok then you can do a check again and see what codes are stored if any.

The crankshaft sensor can give problems like hard to start,or will not start either cold or more often warm, and missing. the cost is about £70

See how it goes.

cheers malcolm to be honest this is the first time since oct she runs as it should, and i did'nt really want to do anything that may cause more problems, i'll think i'll may leave her and see how she goes over the next few days , thanks for all your help

Might be worth a quick look to make sure the sensor is tight and the plug is properly attached!
