I thought I had found the leak in my A/C system yesterday. The expansion valve appeared to be leaking very slowly so I replaced it today... but the leak is still there. I have tested every fitting and cleaned all the fittings and looked for oil to appear somewhere to indicate the leak but everything is pristine. My question to you guys out there is ...How common is it for the evaporator on the 124's to go bad?? :???:The evaporator is the only thing I have not checked...because of its location, of course. I am afraid that it might be the evaporator cause everything else comes up clean... and no bubbles..

television... any and all help would be GREATLY appreciated!!:p I have the vacuum pump on it right now and am going to put some 134a/oil and dye in the system... for starters...can the evaporator be accessed to test with a sniffer or u/v? That is, without tearing out the entire dash...:???:

You have to remove the dash to even see it,so the dye may not show up at this stage

I do have the info to remove it all but I need an Email address

here it is ...part of the dye thing is to make darn sure that the problem is in the evaporator before I go tearing the dash apart.;)

I put the dye in the system.. None has shown up anywhere. I was looking to borrow a sniffer from somebody in the buisiness but I don't really think it is necessary... When I turn on the a/c, I can smell the freon coming through the vents. Just to be sure... that would be a definite indication of a bad evaporator... right?
