A/C problem sl500 R129

Hi Guys

I ám new to this forum. I recently been lucky enough to have my first Sl 500 R129.
Person I bought it from told me that there is a problem with AC and he thing it’s loosing gas.
What will be the way to start and look into this and hopefully not spend much money ?

What year is it?

Typically it will be the compressor. If not the next most likely cause will be the condenser in front of the radiator. It's prone to salt and stone damage.

You can get UV dye kits to try to identify the leak.
