that sounds like the wrong gas

R134a is what most cars had, new stuff moved on, really old stiff circa 1980s used R11

age / mileage….. use of the system, likely a condenser leak weeped all the gas out

Latest cars use R1234yf and it’s very expensive.

Not sure as haven’t invested in a machine due to no demand yet. I think it’s at least double r143 and that trebled in price a couple of years ago.

Had my i8 Discharged, evacuated and refilled in June , total bill £79.99 from BMW iservice main dealer.
None of the street side AC folks would touch my car (Kwik Fit, Halfords, ATS etc). No idea what quantity to be honest but it was HFO-1234yf

Yep, those BMW drivers an odd bunch. Actually not a bad price from a main dealer.

Yup, got the price online and a phone call , at the dealers they tried to charge £120 ish but I referred to their verbal quote and they honoured it....I think it was a mistake TBH
