Hi All, I was wondering what car polish may of you all were using and what process steps were being used, such as polishing by had or a DA (dual action)buffer? cotton cloth or microfibre cloth? in the shade or in direct sunlight? polish then wax or just polish? tyre treatment or not? Iam the typeof person who cleans, polishes and waxws my cars very often, I recently started to used Zymol which I thought was really great when used with a quick detailer such as Demon Shine, I had previously used "Autoglym Super Resin Polish" before it was even being sold in the shops (trade only) for the last 20 years, I have tried, "MER" but much preferred the Autoglym Super Resin Polish, I then tried various Turtle Wax polishes and waxes and many others but I kept coming back to "Autoglym Super Resin Polish" the only thing I did not like about the Autoglym Super Resin Polish was the white caking it left behind which meant I had to go over the car again with a moist cloth each time I polished it (which was very often), anyway back to this really expensive wax, as I was so very impressed with the Zymol Car Polish at £12.49 purchased from Halfords, I thought I would look at their other products and that's when I saw this http://www.vertar.com/car-care-exterior/wax-polish/zymol-royale-glaze/
how could somebody possibly spend this sort of money on a wax!!!
I would like to know other peoples views.

Someone with a Brabus would spend that kind of money if they really loved the car.

I settle for Merquires very good and easy to use, and no white remaind left anywhere

I started off with Zymol Carbon Wax, won a competeion with Vertar and received £100 worth of Zymol products of which some of it was spent on the Titanium Glaze. Both were very good, but after advice from members on this forum I tried Meguairs Tech Wax, which I didn't like because of the white dust. I am currently using Colinite 915 Marque d'Elegance which I think is absolutely superb.

Hi Helen, can you tell me what difference did you notice between the Zymol Carbon wax and the Colinite? is the Colinite 915 915 Marque d'Elegance a wax or a polish?

I find the Colinite gives a very deep shine and the whole car looks permanently wet. It's also cheaper than Zymol, but it is as hard to use (small areas at a time). It's classed as a wax, same as the Carbon Wax, and both contain carnuba.

I like it anyway and would recommend it to anybody.

Thanks, at the moment I am doing some research into various polishes, waxes and what seems to be the latest craze from America "Claying" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCLvsHD2gRc I am searching for the Holy Grail of polishes and waxes. without spending almost £7,000.

Flies are attracted to highly polished silver cars. I think that they all settle on mine to see how nice they look in the reflection

I used the autoglym and i found it left the white powder substance, then you have to go over it again, I found T-cut color magic, (By Turtle) very good and easy to use, Does not leave any powder substance, Cover's any tiny small stone chips, And leaves a really good shine with out any marks!..I found it left a better shine than the autoglym,

I've read up a lot on the "carnuba. wax's" and all with good feedback!..will have to give it a go!

I use Collinite Super Doublecoat Auto Wax (No. 476s), since using it I've noticed small flies like to sit on the car when it is parked. Someone else reckons they are attracted by the Carnuba Wax.
Russ

Have been using Collinite. It leaves such a smooth surface that the flies just slide off:cool:

I always clay mine first, then put a couple of coats of Carnuba wax on. Carnuba doesn't leave any white residue so can be used on rubber and chrome as well as paintwork.
The clay does make a massive difference. I wasn't absolutely convinced so I did a half and half test on the Landrover's bonnet a few months ago. Clay & polish one side and just polish the other. The difference was remarkable. You could feel the flecks and specs of dirt in the paintwork where it hadn't been clayed and looking at the state of the clay when you've done, you can see its doing its job.
Then don't forget to use alloy wheel wax on the wheels (another well kept secret) and some tyre dressing and it's back to showroom for a few months.

I think the Mothers of All Flies are attracted to my windscreen, front bumper, number plate, door mirrors - in fact, all forward-facing surfaces :(

Last night the Mother of All Mothers of All Flies, hit my front bumper and SPRAYED the windscreen with the contents of it's body :-(

Which reminds me - What is the last thing a fly see's when it hits the windscreen? It's ass :p

Hi jberks, can you recommend a good wheel wax?

Hi Helen,
Mine is made by Mer and seems good though I haven't tried any others. Seems to last around 3 months at a time. Just make sure the wheels are nice and clean first as its a protector more than a cleaner but I tend to use something nasty like wonder wheels and then tcut for the really stubborn marks, then 2 coats of wheel wax and they come up like new. If they're oxidised after being cleaned too often with an acidic cleaner then a buff up first with tcut first works wonders.

Hi jberks, which clay and lubricant do you use when "claying"

Isn't that the stuff that Clarkson used when 'restoring' the £2k Rolls Royce for the pool opening on Top gear?

I'm sure he said it was edible and cost £6k.
