I was driving down country roads when my full beam stuck on, I managed to wiggle the switch and it went off but driving over a bump brought it back on.

So, I've had a quick look and it seems the only way to get the column shroud off is to take the steering wheel off 1st - is this true??

Also, is the switch recoverable or do I need a new one? - if so how much and from where?

Any other tips gratefully expected.

Many can cure them by spraying in some non drying switch cleaner (Maplins) worth a try, but no guarantee

remove battery terminal, unscrew air bag, 2 holes on rear of wheel, unclip the 2 airbag connectors, take out the 3 screws holding on the steering angle sensor, but DONT turn it, place a bit of tape round it!, them if memory correct the stalk is held in with one screw and slides towards you, will look on wis later to make sure! 20min start to finish!!!

What does the Steering Angle Sensor do?

And since the screws holes are blind (and so am I now my short sight is getting worse) what size/type of screws hold the air bag on?

Is this a common fault?

Thanks, I'll do it myself, doesn't sound too onerous!

2 x 28 torx screws with50mm long extention, on the rear holding the air bag,, do not turn on ignition with it off, or unplugged. the best way to get the 10mm hex bolt from the steering wheel is a garage air line, loosen it all off at a garage, then drive home and do the rest
