Have had my 3 year old "A" class for a week now. It has covered 19000 miles and seems to have been well cared for. I have covered 400 miles on a tank of petrol with motor ay driving 80mph and light comuting to work. I am only geting about 34 mpg. Is that ok? I would have expected about 40 mpg. The car is very nippy and likes to be driven in a a lively maner. I am delighted with the build quality of the car.

I think you have answered your own question. If the car likes to be driven in a lively maner then your fuel consumption will reflect this. 34 is possibly low, I can't remember the exact figures my father used to get from his A160 but I think high 30's. However fuel econoomy very much depends upon the type and length of journeys you do.

.

It also depends on where you live, One of my cars averaged 25.7 in herts,
Only get 22 down here in Dorset, cold weather does not help.
