the control unit inside the gearbox on the A class apparently has to be coded for the car and this is done in germany, this means another control unit from another auto wont work on another A class, so im told.

The control units have had several part number changes over the years and at £1000 roughly it makes it not a cheap fix. Does anyone know of a company that can check and replair these ECU's? Does anyone know why the ECU's fail.

ECU can be repaired by ' ECUtesting' and if you make contact via the link and mention my site you will get 10% off the cost of the repair if reqired, they will test your unit ECU or MAFS for £35.00 and will only repair as required .
http://www.aclassinfo.co.uk/mypage.38.htm.

if your talking about a seperate Control Unit in the gear box you would have to speak to Roger at ECUtesting to see if he can help , if your talking Engine Control Unit they can repair.

Lofty

Ive done some research on the net and there doesnt seem to be anyone that repairs the gearbox control unit on the A class.
I have emailed one chap who is willing to have a look, no charge even if he does fix it. I will see what comes of it.
