I know where it is but have never seen it - and like most of the rest of the car am leaving well alone.

I know that the days of checking the battery and topping up with distilled water are long gone. But has anyone with an A class ever seen their battery ?

Its still part of every mb service to check and top up the battery levels, if it hasnt a gel battery. They last longer if correctly filled.

As Hawk20 says, the battery is under the floor on the driver's side. I thought I'd take a peek so I removed the floor mat and opened the inspection cover and there was the battery. Nothing particularly dramatic about that, but would I did find surprising was how deep the sandwich floor actually is. No wonder it costs so much to manufacture an A Class.

This is a very good point. It seems that MB are making no money at all from the A Class given its sophistication. Makes you think would be a good idea to buy a new one in 2011 (given that A Class is allegedly to be no more from 2012).

The A will definitely continue but it may be quite a bit different. Keeping the existing factory and adding another in a lower cost country.

I think it would be really sad if the sandwhich floor goes. It means no sill and easy entry and exit. High driving position. Great for safety.
