Dear all

Can any body help with this. I need to change the brake pads on our A class 140 (solid discs) and need a clue how to do it. I've done this countless times on other cars but always with the help of a diy manual. I cant find one for this car and so before I dismantle the front end I thought I would ask if someone else has done this and what if anything was the main hassle.

With luck, I can look later in the day for you, should be simple.

Paul heres a link to a diagram,http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.as...506716.507&CT=F&cat=66A&SID=42&SGR=030&SGN=01 assuming it matches up to what you've got ie looks the same single sided hydraulic cylinder you need to undo 2 bolts 60 (you may need to stop the piece they screw into with a spanner from turning) pull the hydraulic part away and support it ie don't let it hang by the flexy pipe you should then be able to remove your worn pads and fit the new ones. Before replacing the hydraulic cylinder you'll have to push back the piston to give you room for the new thicker pads, when pushing this back fluid will be pushed back to your brake fluid reservoir make sure theres sufficient room in the reservoir for this as you don't want fluid spraying around. Hope this helps if you're in any doubt seek further professional help as brakes are'nt the things to screw up with, however as you say you've done pads on other cars it should'nt be too daunting ;)

P.S. You do not need to remove anchor plate part No 70 in the diagram

Absolutely straightforward. Done it on my daughter's A160. The replacement pads from Mercedes come with new bolts and a tube of grease!

Many thanks to all, brakes fixed, pads replaced and surprisingly very easy to do.
Lets hope they stay on when needed.
