Hi
I am enjoying my recently purchased A160 LWB only to read that the clutch only lasts about 50K and costs £800 to replace. Is this true?

Re A Class clutch shot at 50k

I too bought an A class (now sold on though) and read this article - it's misleading as it's meant for the ACS (the Automatic Clutch System) model and not applicable to the other manual boxes. Hope this puts your mind at rest...

Thanks pcman

I think that there is a lot of misinformation in the car mags and from motoring writers. I would be interested to know what mpg your A class returned. Mine is a 160 LWB petrol with 19000 miles. On a mix of Motorway driving (70-85mph) and comuting to work on clear B roads it is only returning about 35 mpg. Is this acceptable?I had hoped for arond 40mpg, perhaps this is expecting too much. The car is not as good as my old Citroen Picasso 1.8 petrol for going up hills in top gear. Perhaps the extra 200 cc and 16 valves make a difference.

MPG on the A Class

We're not going to be able to compare like with like as mine was a A170CDI. I was getting anything from 48 to 60.2, averaging 54 MPG. Hope this helps, although useless if yours is a petrol!
