a class a190 1999.
Hi all , many thanks for having me on this great looking forum,,

I have a 1999 A class A190 fully automatic . I have owned it for about a year
and have had to replace the fuel pump/cps/coil pack. |This is great little car
but now when the vehicle is cold and only when is cold , when the car changes
from 1st to 2nd gear , the car will over rev before it goes it to 2nd gear. and sometimes i will get the dreaded " F " displayed on the screen.

Now after about 15 minutes of driving the car is fine and will change gear with out any problem .

I had the gearbox oil changed but this has not helped. the car has done 60,000 miles.

Sorry my first posting is asking for help , but im sure someone here would have some clue.

Many regards
John

A short test would show up a faulty gearbox valve body or poss a selector module fault,

You need to get the car onto a fault reader and post the codes!

Welcome to the forums!

Just to add , i did remove the selector PCB and clean with contact cleaner
which seems to had little or no effect.

ah ah good news ..

Wow what good news ,
the gear selector pcb had pack up , new part cost £228 plus vat.
we only replaced the pcb, not the bowman cable as that will have had engine
drop to replace.
coding using star cost £20.

Job done and the car is as good as new,,,

SAVES NEARLY A GRAND ON ORIGINAL QUOTE .
