A Class Manual Gear Selection

Hello Folks

A newbie here trying to resolve an issue with an A170 Manual.

If the vehicle is driven up a steep hill (or under heavy acceleration), Gears 1st, 3rd and 5th will not engage. Go down hill, and the fault will cure itself (until the next steep hill up!).

Any ideas please...

There is a small plastic arm (30mm long ish) that falls off the mechanism on top of the gear selector. Have a look on top of the 'box (bonnet open) and see if you can see anyting loose.

This maybe the cause of your problem.

You were right. The linkage has worn and so the cup/ball arangement comes apart.
