Hi, I am in need of help with my heater and a/c, it has developed a strange fault and I cannot find the problem. when I turn on the ignition every thing seems ok, the heater controls all work ok but when I start the engine, after about 10 seconds the a/c off button and recirculation buttons go off and stop working, the engine cooling fans start to run, and I have no heat from the blower and no a/c either. I have disconnected the a/c compressor electrical connection but this makes no difference, I have checked all the fuses I can find and these are all ok, I am puzzeled, I think it may be the heater control unit but this is just a guess, has anyone got any ideas, or know how to test the heater control unit, thanks Mark.

Hi
I am very interested in this fault.
Please can you give some definitions.
What do you call the heating control ?
You say with ignition on, everything works OK, but with just the ignition on, there is nothing turning the engine over which means there is nothing turning over the compressor. So I do not see how you have very cold air coming though the vents.
Did you get underneath the car to take the plug off the compressor ?
Is it possible to put up a picture of the dashboard with the dials.

HI, I have solved the problem by changing the heater control unit, the bit with the control dials on and the buttons. Everything now works as it should, thanks.
