Hi, after a bit of advice please...

I've got a very low mieage 51 plate A Class which has a steering problem. At first it started by clicking when turning the wheel and now has got to the point where the wheel locks sometimes. I've been told that it's a 'Notched steering column' but also seperately that it's the 'bottom coupling' of the steering column (or is that the same thing?)

Can anyone shed light. Also whatever it is i will need to get the part number to order it from a parts broker. I'm certainly not paying Mercedes' £700 for a new steering column.

Thanks for your help!

Hi
Just seen the February 2008 issue of CAR MECHANICS. Have a browse.
The power steering on your car is electric. Clean the electrical connection to the power steering pump.
