A couple of questions from a newbie...

Hi all,

This is my first post. I hope I have posted in the right section, apologies if I have not.

I have just picked up a new (to me) 56 plate C180 Kompressor Avante Garde SE. It's my first MB and so far (well, after 3 hours) I love it. The place I bought it from (not a MB approved dealer) informed me prior to purchasing that there was no spare key. I really need a spare for obvious reasons, so my first question is how much am I likely to pay for a spare key?

Secondly, the A service is a slightly overdue (car has done 17600 miles). How much do MB charge for this service, and are there any cheaper alternatives (or would you recommend using a MB dealer)?

As for the key - they are about £200.

Have you tried to contact the previous keeper to see if they still have the key?

Cheers Stumpy. I will contact the previous owner (a leasing company).

If this is not fruitful, am I right in thinking that under the terms of Mobilo Life that MB will replace a lost key free of charge within the first two years of the vehicle's life? The car is 23 months old, so I have a month left.

I don't want to have to fork out £200 for a new key on top of a service if I can help it!
