Hi all,

Ok, i've owned my C36 for a little over a month and am [almost] blissfully happy with it.

I have some questions/observations...

When braking from high speed the brakes appear to make a rumbling noise, althought the car stops with no problem it doesn't exactly inspire confidence! I called Evans of Leicester and the guy there told me its most likely the surface of the rear discs has corroded away which is why they are noisy. Is this a common problem? Is it an expensive fix?

My A/C has lost all its gas! It was fine for like 3 weeks and now it does bugger all, although I guess there is a perished hose somewhere.

When in Drive with my foot on the brake there is what sounds like a rattling sound coming from beneath the car :( If you put the car in any other gear its fine, no sound. The car drives and shifts fine so errr..any ideas anyone? I'm guessing just a lose baffle on the exhaust or something?

Aside from these minor niggles I love this car, i've booked it in for a lube service since it appears to be overdue and it continues to waste most things on the road with ease. I recommend buying one (or any AMG variant for that matter) just for the sheer pleasure of seeing GTi's and the like struggling to pull away when you're only on part-throttle... VERY satisfying....LOL

If anyone has any advice on the questions I asked then it would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Simon

Hi

I would agree with Evans of Leicester. The majority of times the problem lies with the rear brake discs. Although in saying this. If substandard brake pads are fitted can cause the same problem. usually just as the car is coming to a halt.

The AC will require recharging. The main causes of loss of refrigerent , is the condensor. Most of the times they donot leak from the front where you can see it. But behind in between the radiator and condensor. So the inner side of the condensor. Get it recharged & make sure they fit UV dye so a more acurate diagnosis of any other further leaks can be made.

The rattling is more than likely the heat sheild come loose of the catalyst. Suggest you have it cut of if its bugging you. Welding dosn't work & fitting a jubilee clip dosn't work either.

Hope this helps.

A few queries!

Thanks for the info Andy, I figured the A/C must be leaking since it worked absolutely fine for the first three weeks. If Evans don't fix it then i'll take it to a specialist in Leicester that i've used before....(called 'Cool Running' in case anyone needs A/C maintenance in the East Midlands area etc etc..).

They will hopefully be cheaper should anything hairy need doing to it lol.

I'll get the rattling checked over when it goes in cos your right, it does bug me lol.

Thanks again,

Simon

Brace yourself at the cost of replacing brake discs! A set for my C43 doesn't leave much change from £1000!
