Hello, I hoping someone can offer a solution to this dilema. 1997 C class, a completely flat battery in the boot, electronic boot release has no power, the master key for the boot lid has disappeared. How can I jump start the car, it cannot be pushed due to being in a very tight space, is there some where else that jump leads could be connected to so that there is enough power to open the boot (or start the car) ? Any assistance greatly appreciated!....................Later edit; I've read some other posts, this looks a common problem, it sounds as if there is a black box on the passenger side under the bonnet (at the back?) that jump leads from another car could be connected to. Any detailed advice as to which exact termainals to connect to may solve my problem, possibly! With thanks.

the passenger side door will allow you to open the car using the key

you can then use a black and decker flat battery start kit using the cigarette lighter

that'll give you enough power to easily open the boot..

plus it's easy.

cheers

Use your key to get into the car. Open the bonnet. Use the Positive terminal (in black box with red cross on top) and nearby copper earth post to connect the vehicle electrics to another battery/car.

The boot should use the same key as the rest of the car, but through lack of use the lock usually siezes up. Patient use of a thin oil and gently working the lock with the key will eventaually free it up.
