With only a couple of tiny update mods, if it went back into production it could probably stay on for another 18 years! Lovely car.

I had 2 R107's in the early 2000's. One a 380SL 1982 and the other a 420SL 1989 (last year of production). Children's university fees etc etc meant that I sold both...... Damn and triple damn! The 420SL I sold for £19K it had 42,000 miles, full leather interior and all the extras. Probably worth at least £50K today looking at the SL Shop's offerings.

I couldn't afford one today.

An opportunity missed Graham.
We had a very early 107 from 1971, think it was the only year they had the 4 speed automatic with LSD as standard. Great combination and could very quickly get off the mark. It had a fluid coupling drive instead of the torque convertor. Only down side was it was the non headrest model. Silver with black trim.

It's surprising that a MB Marketing Manager hasn't thought of a "retro" model. Mind you, with a good electrical set up a retro model would probably sell like hot cakes so you never know what's around the corner!
