I've just sold my 3.0Si BMW Z4 (265 bhp) and 'downgraded' to an R172 SLK 250 (204 bhp) to enjoy the greater comfort, lower running costs and better everyday driving experience for me and my other half. A good move so far, and it's a lot more relaxing and less frenetic too. All the extra toys help to cope with the pain.
It took a long time to find the right one. I wanted a 350 but they're rare in UK and overpriced, high mileage or low specification. So I settled for a 250 and realise that it's not a bad move financially with lower VED, cheaper insurance and better mpg. OK, it doesn't have the grunt and all out performance and delicious sound of my friend's 350, or my Z4, but it sort of make sense.
One week in, I'm loving the experience and sense that I've done the right thing. My wife certainly thinks so, and is enjoying the park assist, satnav, automatic, phone integration heated seats, air scarf etc.
