Hi I was active in the AMG world before I went to the US. I have a C43 AMG Estate. I have a very special opportunity for you all. I am about to spend £2000 on the bodywork. As part of the deal I will have the back lid replaced and all the seams sealed. This means I have a back lid fully badged up (C43 AMG) with hardly a mark on it for sale. Offers. I am going to post it on ebay. They only made 83 C43 AMG Ests this is a one off opportunity.:):D:grin:

what seams? I can't remember a merc having a visible seam. In fact I can't think of any post 85 car that does.
And what is he offering? A used C class tailgate (available from any decent scrapper) with an AMG badge (£20 from the dealer?) stuck to it.

None of this makes sense to me - what am I missing?

It's a "a very special opportunity" to buy a "rare" used tailgate available from any decent scrapyard with an £20 AMG badge stuck to it.

Makes you wonder what's going in its place...

Hi I was active in the AMG world before I went to the US.

Maybe thats the answer. He's been in the US too long. They always completely overstate things. A "unique opportunity" in the states normally means that you have to walk for at least 30 seconds to find an equivalent or better offer. Or perhaps it's unique because nobody else would have the cheek?

I used to do interviewing. If I got a Brit I'd add 20% to whatever he said on his CV as we tend to understate things. If I got a yank I'd knock 50% off as they talk a lot of crap. It was normally proven right. Interviewed a 'fantastic' candidate, incredible CV and fresh out of NASA!. I was a bit intimidated until I met him. He was clueless - my team would have eaten him alive.
