I had a temperature warning today but the gauge read 80 degs. I don't understand how this can be. It has gone off again once the engine cooled. Any suggestions as to the culprit? The coolant expansion tank is at the correct level.
The car is an 07 c220 cdi

Me -2019 GLC 350 coupe AMG line. Mrs- 1.2 vauxhall Corsa 2021 ,orange with a black roof. .
It should be closer to 90. It needs a scanner to look at live data when it's hot to see what the ecu says temps are.

Temp too low, could be stat, MB stats do fail or temp sensor, Star wont pic up stat.
Is the coolant correct ratio. if its the stat perfect time for a full flush, needs doing at 15 years anyhow.

Had the stat replaced on mine this year. The temps appeared to be okay, until I started doing some longer journeys at cooler temperatures. There must be some sort of timer check that if the engine has been running for a certain length of time then the coolant temperature should be within a certain range. Mine was running a little cool.

Does it say "Coolant, visit workshop" or does it say "Coolant, check level" or something else?

It's a symbol. The thermometer icon. It's not happened again since and the temp is now 90 degs. It might have been a glitch. I'll keep my eye on it.

Yes where normally the odo meter/phone status/settings menu is displayed. It just appeared and stayed in until I switched the engine iff. I looked at the temp gauge right away and it was reading just over 80. Very strange. It hasn't come on again since.
