Just bought a A140 year 2000. Ran well for a week then started to get a noise when switched on first thing in the morning. Would then get the noise for the next five minutes then is ok for the rest of the day. Took to Merc dealer who inspected it. Acknowledge that there was a noise but could not pin point it. They now suspect that it is the fuel filter and want to change it for £150.00. I know a little about cars but I have never heard that a filter can make a noise. Is this something special to Mercs, or can someone suggest another reason for the noise?
