A140 SRS Problem

I wonder if anyone can help.

I have an A140 (52) Elegance model and it has a problem with the airbag SRS warning light.

Basically there is a sensor in the passenger seat which is not working correctly, in that when there is no one seating in the seat the SRS light warning light is illuminated on the dashboard.

When the passenger seat is occupied then the light goes out.

I have taken it to my local Mercedes dealer and they have confirmed that there is a switch is the seat which detects if there is a Mercedes baby seat present and disables the airbag accordingly. According to Mercades this switch is not working correctly and it will cost over £500.00 to replace.

I think this is unacceptable and are therefore looking for help and guidance on how to undertake the work myself.

Has anyone attempted this or have any ideas where to start.

Any help much appreciated

I changed a driver's seat base frame which envolved stripping the lower half of the seat. It was suprisingly easy how it all came apart and as long as you're memory is good enough to know how it goes back together again, it's worth sripping it yourself. You will need a few torx sockets though from what I can remember.

No, only sripped driver's seat but other seat should be the same-ish.
