hi,
joined here to see if I can get any help on my Merc A class A140 classic. Petrol, manual.2001 model. (Y)

I came back from holiday after some weeks, before i left the car was fine.
I disconnected the battery before leaving , so when returning connected it up and dead.
So i got battery charger and recharged it.
Noticed since filling it up, the fuel consumption was horrendous, probably about half or just under it was going through.
Battery was fine after charge but did not hold it's charge after a 35 mile trip.
After a couple of days , got the battery re-newed.
Fuel problems still continuing.

took it to another garage, got a engine diagnostics test on fuel emmissions etc.
No faults recorded.

No smell of petrol or visible fuel leak on ground.

Asked mercedes benz garage any ideas what it could be? No.....!!!!!!!!!!

I guess it's sensors or computer .

Apart from a service I'm thinking of getting rid of it, no use to me the way it is.

any help appreciated.

A class's always leak petrol at the pipes where they join the engine due to rubbish clips... i would double check under the bonnet..

thx
I had a look , but to be honest I don't have a clue what I'm looking for.
But there is no smell or signs of fuel on ground.
I think it must be something to do with battery being disconnected and the car not liking that. Could it have knackered the car computer somehow?
