Hi all, As the weather has warmed up I have just tried the aircon in our recently acquired 2006 A150 Classic SE and It does not seem to work!
It has a switch below the heater controls and I guess (as in my C240) it is supposed to be ON when the red light is OFF?
This may sound stupid but before I take the car to get the aircon checked/re gassed, is it possible that the car does not have aircon even though it has the switch? We bought the car during the coldest week at the beginning of the year so it was difficult to check the aircon properly. I just assumed that as there was a switch it must have it.

Paul.

Yes the light goes off when you press the switch and on again when you press again.

Well that shows that it should be working unless it is low on gas

Thanks for that Malcolm, I will get it checked.

Just out of interest should it have been checked at the recent (and expensive) MB service?

Air con re gassed and now working fine. The guy said the gas was low, so he has put a dye into the system so if it fails he can find the leak.

I have exactly the same problem on my 55 A150 although I would say the A/C is weak rather than non-existant.

Question|: Does it have to go to the agents to be re-gassed or are there specialist centres that do this kind of thing (I live in the Haywards Heath area in Sussex)?

Air con on my Nov 2007 A150 SE is working - sort of. ie the air is cool-ish on lowest setting rather than cold. Could be that my expectations are too high (having transferred from 13 years in BMW 7-Series - nearly £50k when new and with Arctic air con to match).

Unlikely (wouldn't you say) that a car less than 18months old would need re-gassing?

A/C in Mercs never seems to go particularly cold.

Well Quickfit fixed the problem saying there was virtually no gas left in the system.

Incidentally their price list indicates a standard charge of £45 but it is still much cheaper than the £100 to £150 quoted by M-B.

They do on both of my cars. It is like a fridge inside when they are at full pelt.

You could have a small leak in the system
