A160 First Gear Slipping

Hi Can Anyone Help Me, My Wife Has An A160 2000 Model With A Triptronic Gearbox. When You Pull Off, First Gear Slips On It, All The Other Gears Are Fine It Just First. It Does This In D And When Using Triptronic. If You Pull Off To Quick It Revs And Goes Into F Mode. It Wont Pull Off On Hills. Fault Code P1886

I am facing the same situation. First gear slipping upon take off.

Any solution ?

Needs time on star first of all to see whats going, expect an expensive repair bill.

Rule number one when considering the W168 A class mercedes

NEVER BUY THE SEMI AUTOMATIC OR FULL AUTOMATIC A CLASS.

Rule two

Consider a Yaris instead.

I had one doing this 2 weeks ago. The star guided fault finding said to replace the electro hydraulic control unit. Cost new was £1000 from Benz but I had it repaired for around £400 I think. With a new oil and filter and labour I think the repair came to around £750.

Wow. Expensive repair job

Yours a similar to mine ? W168 fully automatic ?

It was a A170CDI but they have the same gearboxes.

EHCU repairs/replacements are never cheap Im afraid to say as much as us indies try to keep the cost down they are an expensive piece of kit to fix.
