I have bought a non running a160 semi automatic 1999 with 45k miles..it was fine and then it wouldn't start. the owner said she thought it needed a new "computer board" now the car does not start at all.there is a slight click from the ecu by the inlet when you turn the key and the bosch part against the bulkhead #0 265 109 425 (merc # 022 545 71 32 K01) has been exposed by the plastic cover being removed by someone.I would like to know which part it is most likely to be before i get it repaired or replaced. The other odd thing is a constant buzzing from around the power steering fluid reservoir even with the ignition off.The reservoir actually is buzzing to go with the noise.

Hello,
The buzzing from pas reservoir may be the pump running on because a-class's have an electric pas pump and not a belt driven one. The pump get's it's feed from the alternator ( i think it's little blue wire). The clicking noise your getting From ecu area. Could it be the starter motor clicking because the battery is flat?Due to pas pump running on? The starter is down the engine behind the ecu area. Bit of a pig to get to as you either have to drop engine down from the bottom or you can take front engine mounts off and roll engine forward but you have to remove manifold and it's very tight! Try jumping or a new battery and see if that makes a difference. See if it turns over.

Hope this help a little let us know how you get on.

I agree with Ludders. If starter is clicking does that not mean that the solenoid is working but that there isn't enough juice to turn it? Electric PAS pump should be disconnected from juice supply so as not to drain battery. Then try jump start. See what happens.
