A170CDI Revs Problem!

Hi all, Im having a bit of trouble with my mums A170CDi on a 52 plate. Recentely when I seem to drive it after a while for some reason it will not rev over 3500 revs in any gear. Once you stop it and start it again the problem is corrected and just happens again at some random point. There are no warning lights on the dash or anything. Any ideas what this could be?

The first and cheapest step is to have it put on star and see if there is any codes and what the live data is showing!!

Cheers Sam, Booked it an at the garage for next week see what they come back with! Could be pricey i reckon the guy seemed to reckon it was an engine management problem, Ive still got a warrenty on it so hopefully will be covered somewhere! Thanksa again for your help mate!!
