A Class 180 Saloon Premium Plus
Hi All,

I’ve just bought a brand new AClass 180 SaloonPremium Plus and was due to pick it up last Saturday. However, 2 hours before I was due to pick it up the dealership said it needed a software update and I couldn’t drive it away. The dealership said it would take a day to two days for a software update.

Is this right or is the dealership trying to fob me off as there might be a bigger problem their not telling me?

Has anyone experienced this with software updates? I’m minded to potentiallly cancel the purchase of the car.

Hello and welcome

Software updates aren’t anything new with modern cars unfortunately.

It will be under warranty for 3 years so expect a few more… all manufacturers are doing them. I wouldn’t be concerned.

I don't trust dealers one bit. Tell them you are excited and want to see the car - if they fob you off then you know something is up. If you are local - go to the dealers - suprise hello to the new car.

Cars are full of software and are online. So like an iphone needs updates - so does your car. Just a matter of time till cars are getting hacked.

My new B200 is 5 weeks old, and I've just delivered it to my local dealer for a software update and tyre replacement. We're just back from two weeks in France, drove onto the ferry with 105 miles on the clock. The screen was showing incorrect tyre pressure reading warnings all the time, then we had a puncture, possibly not a coincidence. I phoned MB a couple of times, the first time they sent a technician to examine the car, and he told me that the punctured tyre was faulty, and I shouldn't exceed 80kph, a bit of an inconvenience in the cirdumstances, the second call was after I tried and failed to reset the tyre pressure readings, MB tried and failed to do that remotely. and the MBUX software is clearly faulty. So who pays for the new tyre? I'm prepared for a bit of arguing later today when I go to pick up the car later today, Dealer Sandown wants to treat this as a normal chargeable repair, I beg to differ..
