I'm pretty sure I've struck out with this but wanted to check here to be sure.

I sourced a set of CLK alloys and tried to put on 2008 E class 220 CDI, the nuts weren't long enough - so ordered M12 x 1.5 40 mm which weren't right width.

Here is the wheels I sourced:
245 / 40 R17
225 / 45 R17

Front Wheels: 7.5Jx17 ET36
(p/n B66474268 - A2094014102)
Rear Wheels: 8.5Jx17 ET30
(p/n B66474269 - A2094014302)

Here is the wheels I currently have on:

Thanks

Your problem is the 209 uses M12 X 1.5 bolts with an R12 ball head.
The 211 uses an M14 X 1.5 bolts with an R14 ball head.

You cannot use any wheel using M12 bolts on a car designed for M14 bolts.

You also cannot safely use M14 wheels on any car designed for M12 bolts unless you use special custom bolts with an M12 X 1.5 R14 ball head.

Thanks for the prompt confirmation! I'll see about getting wheels that fit :(

Would the custom bolt option be viable/safe as I have to return the M12 set - they maybe able to offer custom replacement?

You can't use M12 wheels on an M14 car. The M14 bolts won't fit and if you still you weaken the mounting ball socket.

You can use M14 wheels on an M12 car using custom bolts.

You have a 211 so it's an M14 car. Game over I'm afraid.

As LK says, there’s no safe way to use the wheels intended for a lighter/ less durable fitment on a heavier car requiring a more durable fitment. You need the correct wheels and correct bolts.

I found quality reproduction wheels on alloywheelsdirect, however if you ask @JBell nicely he has a friend who sells some really nice alloys.

I found a specialist wheel bolt supplier on eBay with a whole section on MB wheel bolts, radiused ball and conical seating figments. They worked out to about £1.00-£1.20/ea.

Don’t mess around with car wheels..! They’re the only thing keeping you in contact with the ground.

I do indeed, get the correct sped for the car, there are some excellent quality replica wheels out there which will bolt straight on

You could also say they're the only thing stopping you making intimate contact with the ground - in a 6ft hole!!:eek:
