ABC on CL600 ...

Hi Folks, I have noticed a couple of 'niggly' little problems with my 2001 CL600 recently and want to address them before they turn into part of Lewis Hamiltons salary for next year ...

There is a (very) intermitent problem with the ABC system whereby, when starting up, the red 'ABC, Drive Carefully' diagnostic comes up on the dash, this usually disappears after a few minutes (carefull) driving, but occasionally can last for a day or 2. I've checked the fluid level in the reservoir and although a bit low, they're not on 'min'. The problem only occurs when starting the car, never while in mid-journey.

Any areas to look or advice on what to do would be gratefully accepted. And if anyone could let me know the best fluid to top the level up with I would also appreciate.

Thanks in advance

Andy

Dig deep. Its going to be expensive.

It is probably either a suction restrictor valve problem or a pressure sensor fault.

Please be aware ANY fluid leaks need to be fixed first. Normally there are many!

I have alot of experiance with ABC and have been on the MB training course for it.

Do have a look on the insides of the tyres- wheels, any leakage will show there, also any spots on the drive way.

When it is showing check ABC visit workshop you have no height control, always turn off and restart.

When it is RED your car is too low

Thanks for the seriously quick replies guys.

I've noticed no leaking at all that I can see and although the level is lower than I think it should be, it has remained constant for a month or so since I last checked it.

One thing I have noticed, although it could be pure coincidence, is that it seems to be happening when the weather has been wet, no idea if this has any influence on matters.

...when you say 'dig deep'? ... how big a shovel will I be needing?!

Thanks once again,

Andy
