Abit late to the party

Hi everyone hope your well I know im abit late to the party but yesterday I bought a cls 350 petrol 2006. And only just found out about the balance shaft and cam shaft issues im regretting it now as i have m272 engine it has 93000 miles with some history i drove it back 160 miles with no issues but today it decided to conk out without displaying any lights. It started up straight away and has been driving i have around 30 miles since and there us also a strange noise coming from the driver side of engine bay not from the engine itself??? Was hoping someone can shed some light as I’m paranoid and can’t sleep. Hopefully someone can give me some advice on what to do. Im 50/50 on what to with the car. Thanks in advance

Have same motor in my CLK, how many actually fail? nobody can give a definitive answer.
I believe engine management come on before complete failure.
Enjoy the car, great motor, smooth and powerful when required.

Thanks for reply. Checked the list I didn’t know there was a CLS 280? I know on the log book my engine number starts with 272964xxxxx141? Im sorry im new to all this.

Thanks. On the sale the guy did mention he had a crank sensor put in?? And there is no engine light on neither has it came on and car was running fine i drove it back from dealers 160 miles there was no issues. Do you think they will accept it back? With no issues? I had a c180 which i had for years with no issues i sold it yesterday I miss it.

I'm afraid you don't..... Of course you can take up Civil Proceedings but there is very little chance of success. It'll just end up costing you even more money!

Does the engine light come on when you first turn the ignition on before starting)? It should come on then go out with engine start. It's not unheard of for unscrupulous people to knobble the light.

Sorry i mean when It switched off yesterday the engine light didn’t come on to say there’s anything wrong. But yes it does come on ignition and go off as normal. I’ve just done another 90 miles in it seems fine . I suppose im gonna take it on the chin as I should have done better research.

this would only be true if the buyer can prove the seller had previous knowledge of any issues that he didnt disclose
