Hello,

I have recently replaced lower and upper control arms and inner and outer tie rods (w203, c220). Nearside and offside done. Car drives really well as a result, on the test drive ABS and ESP warning lights came on (about 2 mins in).

I know the wheel alignment needs to be done, I just don't want to get it done if I have to go back over anything else and disrupt it! Is it possible the wheel allignment is causing the warning lights? In which case the next step should be getting the tracking done? If so, will the fault clear itself or do I need to clear it somehow?

Figured its likely I damaged an ABS sensor when I was doing the work?

My apologies for all the questions, I'm new to Mercedes. Always maintained vehicles, just a little older and less technical!

Many Thanks.

Almost certainly the abs sensor.
Either damaged the sensor, bad connection or damaged cable. If you've had the sensor out or wheel bearings apart it may also be that.

Putting it on a code reader capable of reading the ABS faults will soon tell.

Smart + others :)
As above or Steering angle sensor off due to geo being out after parts replaced, more common with non oe parts. Need to get faults read to confirm.

Thank you for the replies - code reader is ordered and will report back with the errors when it has arrived!

Codes are showing C1025, C1114, C1105, C1115 and C1104. Pointing to rear bearing seal and ABS ring in the hub (both nearside and offside)? Thinking when I installed the bearing seals I pressed them in too far. Will try again by pressing them flush to hub housing. Hopefully that will sort it out.

Thank you for the replies - think the code reader will prove a useful purchase!

This happened to mine after work on the suspension. On mine I was lucky and on the advice of another member on here, I went to an empty car park and did a full circle on full left lock, then full circle on full right lock and this turned the lights off. Hopefully may work for you.
