Ok,
Hi, i am new

Here is a background of my car:
1984 Mercedes 230ce Coupe Automatic 3 Door
91000 Miles

Pioneer Headset
JBL Amplifier 400 watts
Sony 15" Subwoofer 1400 watts

I was driving with the subwoofer on loud and as i slowed down the pioneer headset light kept dimming to the music and so did the ABS lights when the car was as low speed and/or revs.

As soon as i put the music on pause the ABS light went off and the lights turned to normal.

So this mostly happens when i am coming to a full stop, but when i play a song with heavy bass then it happens at anytime.

Once the ABS light comes on if the bass is loud enough the headset will turn off.

I pulled aside and turned the car off, the it wouldn't turn on had to jump start it.

So i am driving along same problem, so i decide to turn off the pioneer headset completely and i stil have the problem, but at very low speed and/or rev.

I parked the car with the ABS light off, and as soon as i accelerate the headlights, interior lights become brighter, bare in mind the there is no music on at this point.

I know i am a newbie but really need some help.

Hi & Welcome,

It looks as if you have too much load for the alternator/battery. Your ICE is taking so much current the alternator cannot cope. Uprate the alternator, install a second battery with split charge or remove the ICE.

The poor little alternator on your car is around 60 amps max,as Blobcat says, it cant cope with that load, the ABS need 12v, one bass note from your ICE will knock it down to 7v.
Your only safe way is to mount an extra alternator and battery, or why not just fit a 240v alternator then you could fit some domestic amps of several thousand watts, this of coarse would only be a short time fix, as when you have got completely deaf you would not need it anymore.

You've more than probably knocked a diode or 2 out in your alternator, either that or your battery has a very low charge, knackered or both.

Fix the alternator, carry a portable generator and put some decent sound gear on-board - Peevies, Trace Elliott, Bose - any Kilowatt ex-disco equipment will do, face it backwards so you dont go deaf, it will give you a turbo boost on the bass and oohhh... all those boy racers in their clios will be jealous as hell :p
