Please help! 1st time MB owner and loving it ha ha.

ABS light is lit permanently with ABS braking & speedometer not working at all.
Revcounter & fuel guage both function correctly.

This first happened last week and a mechanic friend of mine changed a fuse (do not know which??) which fixed the problem.

Now it has happened again & i have replaced EVERY spade fuse with new ones (main fuse box, fuses in boot and 10A fuse under clear plastic cover in N/S engine bay.

The car has been MOT'd in the last 5 weeks and as far as i am aware, if the ABS light illuminates after the engine has started then this constitutes a failure.

Car is C180 1994 (L) with 49,300 genuine miles. How much will main dealer charge to interrogate system?, or is there any advice you can give me?

Many thanks in advance

teky,

Thanks for replying to my post.
problem solved by great local mechanic.

It was the OVP Relay which was shot and needed replacing, the dude checked and cleaned all the ABS sensors and the ECU brain, also checked all my fuses.
When he narrowed it down to the relay he replaced it with a new genuine part.

For spending the best part of 6 hours on my beloved 180 he only charged me £160 so i am over the moon.

Redcar lad forever :)

Craig
