ABS light + Locked in 2nd

I have a 250TD Elegance 1997 Recently the ABS light came on solid and the gearbox (auto) would not let me go beyond 2nd (Get you home mode??).
Light went out after leaving the car parked for a couple of hours. Had the chip read which showed nothing apart from a possible faulty wheel speed sensor.
It's just happened again!!
Any suggestions or similar experiences

I had this problem with a renault laguna auto, was the valve block or something like that. not sure about the wheel speed sensor tho

Make sure that you have 12 volt on both number 87 terminals on the over voltage relay, common fault often over looked. if you only have 7.5 volt that is the problem.

Due to poor soldering you could try tapping the relay whilst checking the voltage
