ABS warning light on C200 on and off intermittently

The ABS warning light on my 1997 C200 comes on from time to time. When I switch off and restart, it goes off again like normal every time but now and then it will come on after driving for a while. It seems to come on more regularly when I travel on dirt roads. Could this be a loose electrical connection?

More than likely a wheel sensor, if you are not loosing the speedo at the same time it could be the rear reluctance ring breaking up
