AC-Off light blinking

I have owned my E320CDI for about a month now. Lovely car.
Today whilst driving, I noticed that the AC-off light hd come on. I pressed the button it blinked about 4 times and then lit up again continously.

I looked it up in the manual which mentioned that the gas has probably leaked out. How could this be possible as when I bought the car the salesman said that the aircon has been serviced.

Any other reasons?

Salesman BS by the sounds of it.

You probably have a leak. The most common place is the condensor.

I try and tell people that if they turned off the air con 5 mins before the end of their journey, they system would dry out whilst driving and would last a lot longer

A salesman saying it has been serviced probably means it was not working in the first place so they regassed it and hoped for the best, unfortunately that is the way it is in the second hand car trade, I have been asked by second hand car dealers to charge cars with gas when you could actually hear the gas hissing out.
