I have had my car diagnosed and a accelerator sensor seems to be the reason for lack of power and going into limp mode, now my question is should I just by the gas pedal or get an
intake manifold pressure gauge first as I'm lead to believe it could be this? £31 for sensor £130 for pedal are there any pit falls things I need look out for when undertaking this operation as I have limited experience. Thanks mark

W212/-09/350CDI, W219/-07/320CDI, EX:W220/-01/320CDI, EX:W211/-04/320CDI, EX:W210/-01/270CDI
all are stored. Clear the codes, get car in the limp, and test again. Which codes are coming back, which are at same stamp?

Edit: pedal fault is not common but not rarest either. You can get 2nd hand pedal under 50 I believe...

Yes I did that and the accelerator pedal sensor came up again after he had cleared them all.

When the throttle pedal went faulty on my R230 SL it still had full power but it wouldn't change gear automatically but would i I used the gearstick to shift.

If I drive the car really slow with accelerator pressed slowly its fine but if I boot it, it will lose power and go into limp mode and won't rev over 2500rpm, turning car off and on again it will work fine which makes me think its something electrical rather than mechanical if that makes sense!!!

From what I understand the accelerator unit has copper nobules on it and a connector that runs along them to increase and decrease the air flow, it feels like it misses some of the connecters when booted and when it connects with the nobules further up it sends an error message to the ecu, but a faulty intake manifold pressure sensor can throw up the same errors, that's my understanding of it, I may be completely wrong I'm learning all the time, electrics baffle me somewhat.

If you want to learn, then find out how to get to the MAP (Manifold Air Pressure) sensor on your car. If you can get to it then you can clean it with spray can.

your pedal has two hall sensors which measure angle of the pedal. Then probably your model has NO kick down switch at all, just dummy button which gives to driver a feeling of kick down trigger. Believe me, not first pedal sensor to fail... mine W211 (same pedal btw) was acting just like yours, even I read the live data by SDS I was getting perfect 0-100% signal, but intermittent I got also limp mode and EML when flooring tha pedal, DTC was always pedal signal. I bought 2nd hand pedal and everything was fine until my wife totaled the car...

btw MB engines are pressure controlled, pedal request is actually asking BMEP and ecu adjusting injection according that.

Edit: I am delighted to see someaone is actually using SDS for diagnosis... for once we can trust fault codes 100%

why I asked is there other parallel happening codes, is that CAN bus fault may trigger other divices faults even they are not actually faulty

The can faults didn't reappear after the engine warning light came on, just the accelerator sensor.

When you say 'accelerator sensor' do you understand exactly which part is being coded as faulty?

The reason I ask is that, for your model and year, there is a 'yaw rate sensor' which is often referred to as an 'accelerator sensor'.
This sometimes plays up. It is situated in the boot in the saloons, and - possibly - under the drivers seat in the estates, under wads of carpet and sound-deadening, and is held in place by a single bolt and one plug.
I mention this only to be sure that you are really dealing with the right component.

Luckily, we have SDS used here, and it clearly says "accelerator pedal sensor", and B37 as a component confirms that
