Well I feel like a real mechanic now on my 1990 300ce-24

Found that I had 'lost' kickdown because the plastic cover boot on the kickdown switch had come off. Removed switch, found cover on the floor and put it all back together. Careful if you dismantle the kickdown switch three little springs go flying in all directions.

Replaced bonnet release handle with a new one - it had broken off.

Replaced passenger side plastic housing for the seatbelt server arm. Had to take off the seatbelf floor anchor. What is that watch spring for inside the plastic housing?

Figured out how to removed the airfilter housing (fiddly bolts) and wd40/relubed the throttle linkages. Cured a very stiff accelerator pedal, lumpy acceleration and a scary siezing of the mechanism on kickdown (gulp!)

All possible because of so many of the posts on this site. Thanks!!!

Soft Top.

I found I had a stiff accelerator before. The cable had been routed incorrectly with to many tightish bends. The cable would have worked alright after fitting but the wire bit would cut into the outer sleeve in time. I would replace the whole cable.

It's an easy enough job but you will probably end up with a sore back.
