Hello everyone I own a 2000 E-320 delivered in the US. While I enjoy the vehicle a recent problem has developed. In that after starting the vehicle will idle and then shut off. I been in traffic at a traffic light with my foot placed on the brakes only to have the vehicle shut off. When trying to restart the engine keeps turning over. I've been told it is the Accelerator Pedal Valve Sensor. Has anyone heard of this ? Is this something I can do myself ? Finally anyone know how to replace the bulb behind the a/c heating control. Appears the bulb must have blow as when I turn on the headlamps the light no longer comes on !

Thanks

Since I'm not familiar with the part is it actually called a crank sensor ? I was told today by the dealer they think it is the accelerator pedal value sensor part#0125423317. Is this the same part you are referring to ?? Thanks for your help !

No this is not the same part, and I cant see how the pedal sensor could stop the engine, as Idle is nothing to do with it,,even if you lost the throttle control the engine would not stop

The CPS is a sensor that sits above the flywheel to set up the electronic, this has a habit of failing when its warm. they should have plugged the car into the STAR system where the fault should be recorded,,if the car starts again immediately then it may not be that

Agree with Malc, you could unplug the pedal and it would still run, still say for that engine its a crank sensor, 0001532828 part number!

Well the part came in $54 US replaced myself a little difficult to get to but started up fine and so far not shutting off. Thanks for the replies and help naturally I question the knowledge dealer- As in the same estimate they recommened the following being done-

Shifter Bushings $113- What are these & where are they located ?
Rear Spring Link Bushings $535 " "
Differential Rear Seal $851 " "
Rear Flex & Front Flex Disc $507 " "
Rear Main Seal $918 " "

I question if all this is really needed as the vehicle has 70,000 miles & no indications of a leak that I can see-From the posts appears the dealers overseas are just as bad as the ones in the US.

If you are not getting any clonks or noises from the drive train, wait till it really needs doing,, they are mainly referring to the prop shaft and rear suspension parts

Well they are saying that the diff is leaking oil, so make sure that the vent is clear.

The prop shaft joining disc are a DIY job

They say the rear end main seal replacing, dont know if they mean engine or gearbox, is it dripping oil ander the bell housing

Sorry I don't know where the pro shaft joining disc are ? Also I'll exactly what they mean regardng the the rear main seal. Currently there is no oil deposits beneath the vehicle when parked. What & where is the bell housing ? In relation to the diff where is that located so I can check the vent as indicated. Again, sorry for my lack of knowledge here but I'm learning as I go !
