Accidentally a new owner/member

Hi all.

Been a sucker for trying to save older cars ive accidently bought myself a w210 e200.

Its an friends dads old car that looked a bit worse for wear but they were going to scrap it.
I couldn't let it happen.
Its a 2000 plate with only 53000 on the clock with one owner. So I parted with £200 of my hard earned for it.

All the archs needed cleaning up and the bottom of 2 doors. So a bit of elbow grease and theyre all tidied up now.

I've been driving around in it for a couple of weeks now and really enjoy driving it. But the more I'm looking into them I think I have a bit of a unicorn.
So I thought I'd ask the question on here.

Its a w210 e200 kompressor 6 speed manual. Ive yet to find another for sale admittedly I haven't scrolled for hours but every one I see is auto.

So. Is there many manuals around of the w210?? Also whats the main issues I should be looking out for on these??

Manuals were available but with 4 pedals not many people have enough legs to drive them...:p
Also the Mercedes autos are so good that almost no one picks the manual version.

W210 is a great platform, rust, rust and more rust is the biggest killer.

Check the mounts at the top of the front suspension, they have been known to rust off completely :eek:

Was a bit strange with the 4 pedals I've hit the wrong one a couple of times :D.

Rust rust and more rust is what I found. Seems confined to the archs and doors. All thats sorted now bit of grinding, welding, filling, sanding and a few hours of my life but theyre looking good ish.

Friend of mine told me go check the front suspension as well. They look good to be fair.

Check under the mastic around the welds... it hides :(

I've got it going on the ramp in 2 weeks for a proper once over. Hopefully I've landed lucky.

Welcome, 2000 was not a good year for MB & rust. But I think you have the M111 engine which has a good reliability record.
