aclass 160 "f" showing on display stuck in gear!!

Please can someone help me my automatic is stuck in gear and wont shift up or down, the "f" i presume for fault is showing on my display,, i have been advised to get diagnostics test but i cant afford at the moment.. could this be the transmission fluid where do i look first? any advise would be great

F in the dash means fault as you say, the two main things which will give you this fault is the valve body or a speed sensor in the box or it could be a esm ( electic selector modue! you will have to have a short test done to read what fault codes are there!

Ive just repaired one of these, Ive spent some time researching why these gearboxes fail, I will assume your cars either done 50k or approaching 100k, diagnostics will show a fault with EGS which is gearbox, Mercedes only replace the box £3500.
The gearbox oil wont have anything to do with it. the fault is electronic failure in the gearbox itself.
Email me boss@mercanic.co.uk to discuss further as I dont want to give anymore info on here about the repair and how it can save you a lot of money, but dont assume the repair is cheap but it is alot lot cheaper than a new gearbox.
