Hi all, done this many times, no issues, battery disconnect & reconnect ... nothing has been shorted out - but for some reason - i have no engine light - so she wont start, my diag tool wont read the engine ecu as there is no engine light - but i can read all the over modules ... no fuses removed,all fused good, drove car - parked it up - 10mins later disconnected battery, reconnected later .... and for some reason - no engine light & unable to read engine ecu.

Curious if any one else has had same issue ? will update if i find anything in the mean time, cheers baz

we tried that - no joy - been reading up - some mercs have a issue with a K40 unit, so looking into this ... i need to take my launch and have a look to see whats fully happening, list what works and what doesnt etc, we have tried the spare key and no different. I have also read that there are issure with the igniton barrel switch, so also starting to think outside the box, has the switch failed, has the immobiliser kicked in and wont release when it see's the key etc

well ..not sure if this has a bearing on the problem .... my launch says keys recognised but no start enables to ESL ... so i found this .. "when disconnetcing the battery, key must be beyond metres from the car" ????

Strange.
When i changed my battery well both batteries i left the key in the slot.
