Hi,

Mercedes GLC 2200 2016 diesel

I have these error messages - Active Blind Spot Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist Inoperable.

My local garage has checked for fault codes but nothing showed up.

Any assistance would be most welcome.

Regards John

I may be mistaken, but I think the Active Blind Spot Assist uses radar sensors in the rear bumper, so I am not sure what there is to clean. Lane keeping will use the windscreen camera. Odd that both occurred together when they use different sensors?

Salt build up in front of sensors in the bumper and traffic film/grease/salt on the screen

Hi,

Thank you for the assistance - I have cleaned all the sensors around the car but I will repeat the cleaning job.

I've not looked at the front camera so that is on the cleaning list.

The Blind spot fault occurred first and a few days later the lane keeping fault appeared.

How many radar sensors are there?

John

Is your battery voltage good enough? Mercedes' systems are notoriously flakey if the battery isn't quite up to scratch and with cold weather and reduced use we have seen a number of strange faults on here recently.

Hi,

Just checked the voltage of the battery and it was 12.15v

The car (and battery) is 5 years old in March 2021.

Would be good to have Srdl's opinion on the battery status ie should I invest in a new battery?

12.15 is too low...12.4 as a good minimum when sat.

Hi All,

Thank you for the assistance - As Blobcat and Srdl have mentioned the battery.

I have now ordered a new Varta Battery (the same as the on from new).

Regards John

Good decision and I’m glad Blobcat gave you the technical answer you were seeking. I just know of the problems that low battery voltage can cause but I haven’t a clue what is actually a low figure!
