A CLASS A200D EXCLUSIVE EDITION 2021
Hi i have just purchased a new 2021 A Class A200d exclusive edition, on my way home last night a deer ran out in front of me, i braked hard heard a massive bang and the deer ran off, the active bonnet had activated but upon checking the car last night and today in the daylight there is absolutely no damage at all anywhere on the front of the car, not even a hair from the deer, i am not even convinced i hit the deer and the bang was the bonnet activating, has anyone had this before and what is the cost? (ERROR ON DASH) Or should this be covered under warranty? Pretty sure now that i didn't actually make contact with the deer but why would the bonnet activate?

Tried that they are saying they would have to put it on a diagnostics before deciding if its an error or the sensor measured hitting something. I am pretty sure now the bang was the actuators going off, the bang was too loud not to have caused a single bit of damage to the car if it was the deer i hit. They can't even look at it for 2 weeks.

The bang would have been the pyrotechnics activating unfortunately, having them replaced isn’t cheep either I’m afraid. Unfortunately the car safety did almost exactly what it should, recognising the emergency braking, object directly in front with likely no way to avoid, the pyrotechnics fire as a preventative measure even before there is an impact, but was still expecting there to be one. It’s likely that because it was a deer it managed to change direction quicker that a person hence no actual impact.

That’s better than it used to be, they were a couple of hundred just for the parts a few years ago
